SMS Alert Service

We have recently introduced a new SMS alert service that allows you to receive weekly text alerts every Friday on your mobile.

Via your SMS text message you will be able to receive:

  • Your current outstanding balance
  • Credit available on your Card
  • Due date for your next payment
  • Amount for your next payment

It costs just 12 pence for every text alert that you receive, and the SMS text charges will appear on your mobile phone statement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can use this service?
You can use this service after your Account has been opened.

Will all this information be sent to me in one text?
Yes, all this information will be sent to you as part of a single text alert.

Can I receive the alerts more than once a week or choose the days/ dates to receive the alerts?
The service is currently set up so you can only receive the alerts every Friday. If this changes in the future, we will let you know.

Will my Account number/ PIN be sent as part of the SMS?
No.

How do I subscribe to this Service?
To subscribe for this service, all you need to do is call our Customer Service team on 0870 850 7755 between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 5.30pm on Saturday.

In order to set up this service, you will be asked to confirm your mobile number and mobile services provider. Please ensure that the details you provide us are for a personal phone rather than a work phone so that your account information is not accessed by a third party.

Can I cancel my subscription at any time?
You can cancel your subscription at any time by calling our Customer Service team. Alternatively, all you need to do is text “unsubscribe” back to the text alert message to cancel your subscription.

Can I register someone else for the SMS service?
No, it’s not possible to register someone else for the service.

I recently changed my mobile number, do I have to update my details?
If you changed your mobile number, please call our Customer Service team on 0870 850 7755 to update your contact details. This will ensure that your information is not accessed by a third party.

Vanquis Bank Limited SMS Text Service - Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions (“The Agreement”) apply to the SMS text service (“the Service”). Please read through these carefully. In the Agreement, ‘You’ and ‘Your’ refers to the Customer who is registering for the Service and ‘We’ and ‘Us’ refers to Vanquis Bank Limited.

1. You must be a current Vanquis Bank Limited customer to register for the Service.

2. We can only provide the Service to one mobile phone number registered on a UK network nominated by You, and not to any fixed line telephone, a computer capable of receiving the text messages or a virtual mobile phone number with ‘070’. Some older mobile phones may not be compatible with the Service. If you have insufficient credit on your phone, you may not be able to receive texts. Your network may also prevent you from receiving reverse billed SMS messages (if you are unsure please contact your mobile phone service provider).

3. Upon registration, You will receive a text message to your nominated mobile phone number, which will contain your account details, for example:

a. account balance;
b. credit available on your Vanquis Card;
c. payment due date and amount to be paid.

4. You will receive your first text message on the Friday following the day you register for the service.

5. You will pay 12p for every text alert you receive which will be charged directly to your mobile phone statement.

6. You will receive the text alerts every Friday, excluding Bank Holidays.

7. We may contact You by post or e-mail from time to time with information about the Service explaining how it works and any steps that You may need to take in relation to it.

8. We may have to interrupt the Service, for example to carry out maintenance, or for reasons beyond our control. We will try to keep such interruptions to a minimum.

9. You should tell us immediately if your nominated mobile phone is lost or stolen, or if you change your nominated phone number. If you do not tell us we will continue to send text messages to the nominated mobile phone number. In such circumstances, we will not be liable for any losses or issues arising as a result.

10. You consent to our processing your personal information for the purpose of providing the Service and where necessary to the passing of that information to third parties for the purpose of providing the Service. Your information will be held securely.

11. We will not be liable for any loss of business, loss of goodwill, loss of opportunity, loss of profit or special, consequential or indirect loss suffered due to the Service.

12. It is important to keep your mobile phone secure at all times. We cannot be held responsible if a third party accesses the information we send to you.

13. We may change the terms of this Agreement by providing you with notice of the changes.

14. To end the Agreement and stop receiving the Service, you must contact the Customer Services Team on 0870 850 7755 or by typing “unsubscribe” in reply to a text alert message. You can do this at any time, regardless of how many texts you have received.

15. We can cancel the Service by giving you 30 days notice in writing. We can withdraw the Service immediately without prior notice if required to do so by law, to protect security or to combat fraud.

16. Our registered office address is at Colonnade, Sunbridge Road, Bradford, Yorkshire. The text messages will be sent to you without the addition of the registered office details.

17. Any complaints about the Service can be sent to Vanquis Card, Customer Service, PO Box 399, Chatham, ME4 4WQ.

18. This Agreement is covered by the law of England and Wales and any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the English Courts.
