Money worries mean Britons will be frugal this Valentine's Day
Though the economic downturn may be coming to an end, a majority of British couples are still set to tighten their belts this Valentine's Day, research has found.

According to a new study carried out by MSN Money, 59 per cent of couples will be spending less money on one another this weekend than they did on Valentine's Day 2009.

In comparison, just one in ten revealed that they would actually be spending more than last year, with one in three of those polled planning on sticking to the same budget.

Commenting of the findings, MSN Money senior editor Simon Ward said: "It seems as if many of our loved ones are going to lose out this Valentine's as people continue to cut back their spending.

"Despite the recent good news about the end of the recession, it seems we're still unwilling to splash out until we're certain things have really improved for the better."

Just recently, a similar study carried out by Scottish Widows found that 12 per cent of adults feel too stressed by money worries, including bad credit card debts, to give their partners their full attention this Valentine's Day.
