An objective approach needs to be adopted if consumers are to improve their financial budgeting skills, a debt expert believes.
According to David Rodger of the Debt Advice Foundation, it might be useful for people to gain information from an unbiased source if they are trying to resolve debt-related issues.
Mr Rodger, the charity's managing director, commented: "We'd recommend that anyone who wishes to budget more effectively, whether they are in debt or not, takes an objective look at their finances."
When it comes to things like credit card debt, the expert suggests that people should not hastily raise money by selling off valuable possessions.
Instead, he believes that charities offering debt information should be people's first port of call in this instance.
Jasmine Birtles, founder of moneymagpie.com, recently warned that some people might experience financial problems if they get credit due to the fact that many consumers do not have great monetary knowledge.
