People should do their research if they are looking to holiday on a budget this year, according to one expert.
Sarah Munro of Post Office Travel Services believes that many consumers are still looking to travel away from home in 2010, regardless of the current economic climate.
Ms Munroe, the head of the organisation, commented: "They are choosing to switch their first choice destination to one which allows them to cut costs and to allow for that two week break.
"Holidaymakers should, of course, research deals carefully."
Meanwhile, Post Office Travel Services has suggested that a number of people appear to be researching parts of the world which are more affordable, cutting down on their holiday outgoings by changing their original plans.
Earlier in the year, the Post Office also published the findings of separate research relating to people's credit card use.
It found that as many as ten per cent of respondents to a survey were expecting to get into more credit card debt over the course of this year.
