Struggling householders will need to be offered further government support in the near future, it has been suggested, which may help those who are finding it hard to manage things like
credit card debt.
According to a range of organisations, including Shelter and the
Building Societies Association (BSA), the new chancellor George Osborne should not choose to scrap public policy measures which have proven beneficial in recent times.
The BSA's director general Adrian Coles believes that a number of people may only be able to stay in their homes at present because of the government's help.
He stated: "For many homeowners, their financial situation remains fragile and they are reliant on support from the government."
A letter has now been sent to Mr Osborne, of the Conservative Party, by the organisations which calls for those experiencing problems to be offered government support.
The opening three months of 2010 saw a total of 9,800 repossessions in the UK, the Council of Mortgage Lenders recently revealed.
