The finances of many public sector workers may become strained in the near future, it has been suggested, which might force some to get credit.
Unison spokesperson Anne Mitchell believes that pay freezes are not the only problems that such employees will have to deal with.
She stated: "Not only are there pay freezes, but we also see many councils ... already starting to cut jobs and services. The future doesn't look very bright at the moment."
In particular, Ms Mitchell feels that wage freezes are having an impact on the finances of local government workers.
Overall, those employed in the UK's public sector are experiencing "very tough times", the expert added.
The remarks made by Ms Mitchell follow the publication of recent Incomes Data Services figures relating to people's pay.
According to the organisation, the public sector has witnessed a growing number of pay freezes in recent weeks.
