UK consumers are still passionate about making use of debit and
credit cards, an expert has noted.
As a result of this trend, the head of PR for
UK Payments Jemma Smith believes that it should not prove too difficult for people to adapt to more contactless methods of payment in the future.
She stated: "We are a nation of card lovers and you would think it would not be a difficult step for customers already using cards."
Contactless payment cards and mobile payments are both likely to increase in popularity in the coming months, the expert suggested.
Ms Smith thinks that people will start to increase their use of contactless technology as it becomes more widely available in high street shops.
Meanwhile, those who are currently looking to get
credit cards might be buoyed by the recent release of Dedicated Cheque and Plastic Crime Unit figures.
The organisation believes that it prevented £24.5 million-worth of fraud over the course of 2009.
