People aiming to improve their credit rating in the months ahead could potentially benefit from the use of certain credit cards, it has been suggested by one expert.

According to John Miles, business development director at Gocompare.com, numerous plus-points can be offered to people who possess these cards.

He stated: "Credit cards can be an effective way of spreading the cost of bigger purchases, building a good credit rating and benefiting from the additional protection they offer for things like holiday bookings."

In addition to these factors, Mr Miles went on to say that the threat of online fraud could be addressed by consumers with the help of credit card products.

Earlier in the month, the commentator noted that those who have outstanding debt payments to meet may wish to pay down debt in the current financial climate, rather than putting cash aside in the form of savings.
