Britons 'need to be educated about credit cards'
Educating consumers about credit cards could help them to improve their money management skills, an expert has suggested.

Moneysupermarket.com's managing director Tobias Van Der Meer believes that credit cards can offer a number of benefits to people looking for payment solutions.

They can enable consumers to get credit when they might otherwise struggle to find such finance, he believes.

However, Mr Van Der Meer added: "It is vital that consumers are empowered and educated to use this form of credit responsibly and to manage their finances efficiently."

He has also pointed out that "transparency is essential" within the credit card industry.

Alongside Mr Van Der Meer's comments, Moneysupermarket.com has put forward a range of proposals that it believes might help to the country's credit card users.

When it comes to the issue of money management, the website has also recently suggested that some consumers may not be taking full advantage of their mobile phone tariffs.
