The large average amount of money being borrowed by users of financial products such as credit cards and overdrafts last year has been highlighted by figures from one organisation.
Credit Action has this week published a variety of statistics relating to some of the lending and debt levels that were seen in 2009.
Among this data, the organisation has noted that by the close of November of last year, the country's adults were each borrowing an average sum of £4,708 by making use of "credit cards, motor and retail finance deals, overdrafts and unsecured personal loans".
Meanwhile, the organisation's figures have also shown that, overall, a personal debt total of £1,459 billion was recorded in the UK during the same period.
People who are keen to address credit card debt and other borrowing issues may be able to benefit from the guidance offered by the Citizens Advice Bureau, consumer minister Kevin Brennan recently suggested.
