Credit card users 'should be offered clear conditions'
People looking to get credit cards should be provided with clearer terms and conditions, according to one expert.

While noting the importance of the products, Moneyfacts.co.uk's principal consultant for banking and economic insight Samantha Owens believes that credit cards can sometimes cause people to spend beyond their means.

"Credit cards ... come with the risk of a greater temptation to overspend," she highlighted.

As a result, she has commented that a greater level of transparency might enable people to "understand their commitments to a credit card provider and make best use of a well managed product".

Nevertheless, Ms Owens also took the time to point out that credit cards can also offer consumers a method of payment which is convenient.

Meanwhile, back in November, the Moneyfacts.co.uk analyst Michelle Slade outlined some of the things that people might want to take into consideration if they are planning on using credit cards while abroad during the winter months.
