Rather than getting into credit card debt, consumers in the UK should learn from their credit crunch experiences, according to one expert.
Chris Tapp, director of the money charity Credit Action, believes that people are unlikely to stop using credit cards in the near future.
However, he added: "We would hope that people are taking a responsible attitude to buying on credit and only buying as much as they can afford."
Mr Tapp went on to say that while there is no evidence to suggest that people are adopting a more careful approach to credit, he would like to see consumer attitudes change over time.
The expert also said that the public's appetite for spending did not appear to wane over the festive period.
Meanwhile, the importance of saving rather than spending money in the long term has recently been highlighted by the price comparison site Confused.com.
