Availability of credit cards 'seems to have increased'
People looking to get credit cards in the near future might find that it is now easier to access such products than it was during the recession, an expert has suggested, in a development which may have an impact on those with bad credit histories.

The Moneyfacts.co.uk spokesperson Michelle Slade believes that the economic downturn might have reduced the availability of credit cards in the UK.

She feels that the amount of people making successful card applications in the recession was relatively low.

However, the expert went on to say: "Credit card companies have taken time to assess the market and now feel comfortable with doing business in the current economic environment."

At the start of this month, Ms Slade also outlined a range of credit card information to people heading overseas for their summer holidays.

Cards may turn out to be useful if emergencies should arise, she suggested.
