Before they travel abroad this summer, holidaymakers looking to get
credit cards might benefit from reading through the advice offered by a new guide.
Made available by the
UK Cards Association and ABTA, the Using Your Card Overseas guide offers information concerning a range of issues, encouraging people to keep their cards safe.
The association's chair Melanie Johnson believes that consumers may opt for cards when heading abroad because of the flexibility they offer.
She stated: "Although card spending abroad was down slightly last year - no doubt due to the economic downturn - their use has grown almost threefold over the past decade."
Last year saw UK travellers spend £25.5 billion in foreign destinations thanks to their cards, Ms Johnson's organisation has revealed.
Meanwhile, in a statement, the UK Cards Association recently offered guidance to travellers with
credit cards who were caught up in the disruption caused by the volcanic ash cloud.
