Consumers might want to think about taking
credit cards on holiday with them this year, it has been suggested, as they might come in handy during emergencies.
The
Moneyfacts.co.uk spokesperson Michelle Slade has offered a variety of tips to people who are looking to get
credit cards before heading abroad this year.
Among her guidance, Ms Slade commented: "It is worth taking a
credit card in case of emergencies.
"The recent volcanic ash situation has shown you never know what may happen and you could be stuck abroad for extended periods."
Meanwhile, the expert went on to offer advice to people concerning exchange rates.
According to Ms Slade, the rates offered at airports may not offer travellers a very competitive deal.
It was recently announced that a new guide is to be made available to credit and debit card users who are planning trips abroad in the coming months.
The Using Your Card Overseas publication has been produced by ABTA and the UK Cards Association.
