Credit card users 'may benefit' from consumer protection plans
Credit card users are among those who might be in line to benefit from the new consumer protection plans which were recently put forward by UK ministers, an expert suggests.

According to uSwitch.com director of consumer policy Ann Robinson, those who are already having to contend with credit card debt may be supported by the government's proposals.

Commenting on the plans, she stated: "Introducing a seven-day 'cooling-off period' may stop people getting into financial difficulties in the first place."

She also pointed out that ministers appear to be making an attempt to improve how transparent the likes of store cards and energy bills are.

A variety of measures were detailed in the new coalition's programme for government, which was published earlier in the week.

The document also contained plans to improve a variety of other areas of society, including the UK's banking system and its national security.
