A number of UK consumers are making use of
credit cards when paying off their household bills, new research has revealed.
According to
moneysupermarket.com, nearly five million people may be doing this on a regular basis.
Those who are having to get
credit cards to meet their household outgoings may need to look closely at their finances, the website's head of banking Kevin Mountford suggested.
He commented: "Those consumers who are turning to
credit cards to fund basic household bills on a regular basis should be hearing alarm bells, as this habit needs to be avoided wherever possible."
However, the expert went on to point out that
credit cards can be beneficial to people as long as they are not used incorrectly.
Earlier this month, moneysupermarket.com also encouraged holidaymakers to consider their finances before heading on overseas holidays.
People should exchange their currency in advance if possible, the site believes.
