The difficult financial conditions which are currently facing consumers have been in the news quite a lot recently, with the Confederation of British Industry's chief economic adviser, Ian McCafferty, among those discussing the state of the UK's economy.
Mr McCafferty remarked earlier this week that the higher rate of VAT may be one factor which is helping to increase inflation rates at present.
