Expert advice 'can help with consumer debt problems'
A government minister has noted how useful it can be for people with concerns about debt to seek expert guidance.

Consumers might be able to improve their money management by gaining such support, consumer minister Kevin Brennan has suggested.

He commented: "My new year message is that anyone struggling with debt issues should seek immediate advice from experts, they have the know-how to provide real help."

The Citizens Advice Bureau could prove to be a valuable source of such debt advice to those whose finances have been hit by the economic downturn, Mr Brennan has emphasised.

Meanwhile, the government's housing minister John Healey has also pointed out the need for people to face up to their debt concerns this year.

The results of a recent survey published by Which? have shown that financially-motivated new year's resolutions are being adopted by a number of the country's consumers in 2010.
