Budget 'could cause financial problems' for some parents
By cutting back on various family-related benefits, this week's Budget might cause financial issues for some UK families, it has been noted.

According to uSwitch.com consumer policy director Ann Robinson, changes to financial support measures such as the health in pregnancy grant and Sure Start funding could add to the problems facing families.

She stated: "These cuts will place family finances under even more pressure at a vulnerable time."

Ms Robinson went on to say that "many parents today need two incomes to just get by".

Plans outlined by chancellor George Osborne to freeze child tax credits for a period of three years may also hit a number of the country's families, the expert continued.

On average, mothers on maternity leave already accrue debts of £1,329, research published by uSwitch.com suggested earlier in the month, which might include credit card debt.

Baby items alone cost people an average sum of £2,152, the website also revealed.
