It might prove difficult for some young people to get on the property ladder due to the fact they are saddled with large amounts of debt, it has been suggested, which may impact those in
credit card debt.
According to Johnny Rich of
push.co.uk, sizeable student debts could result in future housing problems in the UK.
Mr Rich, editor of the independent advice website, stated: "If we have an entire generation of our society who are unable to buy houses because they have such massive debts when they leave university, we will see a housing crisis."
He went on to say that some students are already having to deal with debts that are in six figures, which are unlikely to be paid back quickly.
University leavers of the future might struggle to gain mortgages because of their debt problems, Mr Rich continued.
Earlier this week, the University and College Union's general secretary, Sally Hunt, also warned against the negative impact that tuition fee increases could have in the UK.
