Eviction worries 'haunting many people in rental properties'
The prospect of eviction is causing financial worries for a number of people living in the country's rental sector, according to one organisation.

Statistics from the Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) have shown that in 2009, as many as 50.9 per cent of those contacting the organisation for debt guidance occupied rental homes.

On top of this, the charity suggests that more consumers are now getting in touch with it due to eviction concerns that they have, which may be of interest to those who are having to consider the use of credit cards for bad credit.

Helpline manager at the CCCS, Laura Carver, noted the change that has occurred in the kind of people calling her organisation for property-related help.

She stated: "We have been surprised by the sudden rise in people in rented accommodation phoning us for help with eviction."

Earlier this week, the Citizens Advice director of policy Teresa Perchard suggested that Budget changes to the local housing allowance rate cap could also lead to a rise in debt.
