Problems relating to insolvency are being experienced more by men than women, new figures suggest.
Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) research has revealed that bankruptcy seems to be one thing that the country's male residents are struggling with more than their female counterparts.
Frances Walker, spokeswoman for the organisation, believes that people should try to gain support to deal with their debt problems, whether they are male or female.
She stated: "This may be the one equality which women may not want to aspire to.
"Whatever sex you are, I would urge anyone worried about their debt to seek help as soon as possible."
Figures from the CCCS also suggest that a greater number of men may be having to opt for Individual Voluntary Arrangements.
Last month, the body's helpline manager Laura Carver outlined a number of signs that people should look for to see whether they are facing serious credit card debt problems.
