Improving a Poor Credit Rating

Register to vote to avoid bad credit rating
UK citizens have been advised to make sure they are eligible to vote when the election comes round on May 6th.

As well as being able to cast their opinion as to who should lead the country for the next four years, those on the electoral register will also improve their credit ratings in the eyes of lenders.

According to the Guardian, being able to vote by putting a name onto a public register increases the chances that credit card companies can trust the person requesting plastic products.

"Lenders will use this information to decide whether they want to take you on as a customer, and how much they will charge you," the newspaper said.

Those who are not yet on the electoral register will need to apply before April 20th.

Stephen Robertson, director general of the British Retail Consortium, recently said that the forthcoming election seems to be making a number of UK consumers cautious about spending on their credit card.
