Postal strike causes credit card payment concern
Consumers used to paying off their credit card debt by cheque have been urged to consider other payment methods during the postal strike.

The collapse of talks between the Communication Workers' Union and Royal Mail mean that two days of national strike action are going ahead on October 22nd and 23rd.

Consumers were urged to make additional plans for any important bills or cheque payments usually made by post by the Payments Council last week.

The UK payments strategy organisation indicated that credit card companies and other bill suppliers usually list alternative payment methods on the back of statements.

Those still paying by cheque were warned to ensure that they will not risk a missed payment or the prospect of a fine as a result of postal strike delivery problems.

Chief executive of the Payments Council Paul Smee said: "It's worth taking five minutes to work out what bills, invoices or cheques you might be expecting in the post and to consider whether you want to take any action to make alternative arrangements for any of them."ADNFCR-2660-ID-19421712-ADNFCR
