People 'must take action' to oppose financial fraudsters
People looking to address the risks posed by financial fraudsters have been offered a number of potentially useful security tips.

The CIFAS communications manager Richard Hurley believes that it is not just physical personal documents that people need to dispose of with care.

He commented: "They must also ensure that sensitive electronic documents are kept separate from each other."

Consumers hoping to get credit cards in the near future might notably need to respond to the threats posed by fraudsters, with recent CIFAS figures revealing that last year saw identity fraud go up by 32 per cent.

Mr Hurley added: "Consumers must be increasingly aware and vigilant."

Experian's consumer education manager James Jones noted earlier this month that fraudsters now seem to be targeting people who earn smaller amounts of money, rather than very wealthy consumers.

Those living in rental properties might also be at risk of current address fraud, he suggested.
