Householders should be wary about the damaging financial effects that burst pipes could cause them this winter, it has been suggested.
AXA has noted the large insurance claims that water damage can lead to over the festive season.
The firm's head of home insurance Nick Kidd believes that waterwork damage can cause a number of problems.
He noted: "Not only does burst pipe damage have financial implications, especially if insurance is not in place, but it can also cause huge emotional trauma from ruined personal belongings."
AXA is now offering a range of advice to homeowners, with the firm suggesting that things like loft insulation could stop people's homes from suffering pipe damage while they are away over Christmas.
Meanwhile, the firm recently suggested that people should be encouraged by ministers to focus more on saving for the future, rather than looking at ways in which they can get credit.
