City-based consumers 'saving money' by shopping online
Online shopping may be proving to be a potential way for city-based consumers to save money, an expert has suggested.

Figures from PayPal/The Future Laboratory have shown that 41 per cent of those city-based consumers polled in a recent survey have become more dependent on online forms of commerce in the past 12-month period.

PayPal UK's managing director Carl Scheible suggests that people may be able to reduce their outgoings by going on the internet.

He said: "Shoppers have ... increasingly turned to the internet where retailers offer a wider range of goods often at a better price as they no longer have the same costs as high street stores."

Mr Scheible added that the interest of city residents in online shopping is not likely to dwindle in the near future.

People who are able to get credit and use credit cards when shopping on the web may be more protected from the dangers of financial fraud, VoucherCodes.com recently suggested.
