Insurance 'should be included' in New Year budget plans

Insurance should be a consideration for people when they come to make budgeting plans for next year.

That is according to Andrew Lowe, the head of Direct Line Home Insurance, who has noted that festive money management may also prove to be an important area of concern for many consumers.

He commented: "Getting finances in order is a priority for many people's New Year's resolutions, and included in that goal should be a re-assessment of the value of the contents within their home."

However, in a development that may have required some people to get credit in recent weeks, Mr Lowe's firm has additionally suggested that the average UK adult will spend as much as £363 on Christmas presents in 2009.

Meanwhile, HomePhoneChoices.co.uk has this week claimed that people should look at the various ways in which they can reduce their outgoings on international phone calls this Christmas.
