Financial concerns are causing some people to concentrate less on their relationships, new research suggests.
According to figures published by Scottish Widows, as many as 12 per cent of those polled in a recent survey are having to focus a lot of their attention on staying afloat financially.
The firm's savings expert, Alison Morris, believes that Valentine's Day provides a good opportunity for people to keep their partner in mind, rather than money.
"Our research shows that the majority of people (52 per cent) ideally want their partner to be their top priority in life, far above work or finances," she commented.
Ms Morris went on to suggest that it could prove beneficial for people to plan ahead financially and take a long-term view of their situation.
Meanwhile, Moneynet.co.uk's Andrew Hagger has noted that people may be able to get credit to fund engagement rings this Valentine's Day by opting for balance transfer credit cards.
