UK consumers urged to cut energy outgoings
Homeowners looking to reduce their fuel bills are being advised to keep a close eye on the amount of energy they use.

Figures published by Confused.com have shown that as many as ten per cent of those polled in a recent survey keep their heating on during the day while they are at work, so that their homes are pre-heated upon their return.

And while some people may have recently been forced to get credit in order to meet high energy costs, only a third of those queried in the Confused.com survey are looking to change to a cheaper provider.

The firm's head of energy Gareth Kloet believes that even simple measures like wearing extra jumpers could lead to cost reductions.

He noted: "In order to minimise the impact of unnecessarily high bills, it's important to realise that winter doesn't stop when you go through your front door."

Earlier this year, Confused.com also highlighted the long-term benefits that consumers may enjoy if they start saving early towards their retirement.
