Financial education 'could lead to better money management'
People's ability to successfully manage their finances and avoid things like credit card debt may be improved if the country's youngsters are educated about money from an early stage, it has been suggested.

Wendy van den Hende, the Personal Finance Education Group's (PFEG) chief executive, has welcomed government proposals to offer financial education to primary schoolchildren, which were recently revealed by the Daily Telegraph.

She commented: "We think it's particularly important that you start teaching children as early as possible about finance so that they can build up their skills on it and their confidence."

Ms van den Hende went on to suggest that youngsters who are taught money management skills may have a better idea of what organisations they should turn to if they require financial help in the future.

The PFEG aims to offer support to schools when it comes to the provision of guidance concerning personal finance.
