Online banking users urged to be wary of fraud
Consumers that opt to do their banking via the telephone or internet need to be wary of the dangers of financial fraud, an expert suggests.

According to Financial Fraud Action UK's head of fraud control Katy Worobec, simple measures can be adopted by those looking to ensure that the security of their finances remains intact.

She said: "Online and phone banking customers should make sure they remain wary of unsolicited emails or calls from people claiming to be from their bank."

Ms Worobec went on to note that it is important that people do not disclose their PIN to others, as this might also open the door for fraudulent activity.

The issue of financial fraud was highlighted by a number of organisations ahead of the festive period.

For instance, consumers who were looking to get credit cards to meet some of their festive outgoings were warned about fraud risks by the CPP card fraud expert Sarah Blaney.
