Research suggests many budgeted over Christmas

Consumers 'nearly always look for bargains'
One way some people may be looking to build a credit rating is by reducing their expenditure and making sure their outgoings do not exceed their means.

This might apply to people struggling with the rising cost of living in the currently difficult economic climate

However, many individuals could still want to celebrate special occasions and might not want to cut back on considerations such as purchasing gifts for friends, family and loved ones.

A new study conducted by Lightspeed Research that assessed how consumers coped with the cost of Christmas found 51 per cent of UK adults said they always look for bargains.

An additional 33 per cent of respondents said they did this sometimes, which may suggest the bulk of the population takes their budget planning seriously.

This kind of action might be able to help build credit history, as being credit active can demonstrate to a lender the individual has a responsible attitude to money management.

Furthermore, the study found more people might be starting to wait until items are reduced before committing to making a purchase in order to keep their expenditure low and some people could be looking toward methods by which they can do this.

This can reduce financial outgoings, which might help with keeping on top of bill repayments and improve credit history.
