Students advised how to avoid bad credit rating
School students have been gaining a greater understanding of how to manage their finances so as to avoid obtaining a bad credit rating when they are older.

This is thanks to financial literacy sessions run by Coventry Building Society at Stoke Park School and Community College.

Students have been looking at a variety of case studies which help them to understand the cost of living, budgeting and how different financial products work.

"I really enjoyed the session and we learnt so much," Roshni Patel, 15, from Stoke Park School and Community College commented.

She said that, prior to the sessions, she did not know the difference between a good and a bad credit rating and how these were determined.

Roshini went on to say that the sessions have given her more confidence in understanding how to manage her money.

Zoe Stevens of Confused.com suggested earlier this week that schools themselves should offer money-related education to their pupils.

This could help children from families having to consider poor credit credit cards to avoid entering into the same situation as their parents when they are older.
