World Cup travellers urged to avoid travel money mistakes
People thinking about heading to South Africa to support England in the World Cup have been advised not to make financial mistakes, which those looking to get credit cards may want to take onboard.

According to M&S Travel Money, as many as seven million consumers would think about venturing abroad if the national team managed to get as far as the final or semi-final of the international tournament.

However, survey results published by the firm showed that 66 per cent of respondents are unaware that the exchange rates offered by high street travel firms may vary in different parts of the country.

Meanwhile, 24 per cent of potential travellers are said to be unaware of what the South African national currency actually is.

The M&S Travel Money manager James Yerkess highlighted the need for football fans to get value for money.

He stated: "Value for money is a topic travelling England supporters need to put serious thought towards, especially given a quarter of people aren't even clear that the South African rand is the official currency."

The World Cup kicked off last Friday (June 11th), with hosts South Africa drawing with Mexico in the first game.
