Cash-strapped parents who are struggling to get credit can save themselves extra money by kitting out their children's nurseries, according to a child trust fund provider.
Research shows that on average, British parents spend £3,383 decorating and furnishing a nursery and a further £605 on prams, buggies and car seats.
But a report from The Children's Mutual said that expectant parents can earn over £200 by shopping online and using its new cashback site called CTFCashback.
It allows parents to stock up cash in £10 increments every time they use their credit card to shop online. Parents can then put the money they save in a trust fund.
Tony Anderson, marketing director at The Children's Mutual, said: "Whether it's buying baby grows and nappies or school uniforms and family holidays we wanted cash-strapped parents to be earning money every time they spend online."
Half-term is set to be a particularly expensive time for parents who will fork out almost £1 billion on treats, holidays and childcare, according to research by the Co-operative.
