Many families require 'further financial help'
A children's charity has listed a number of proposals that it would like to see included in the Chancellor's Pre-Budget Report tomorrow (December 9th).

The provision of free school meals to all pupils would go some way in helping families out in a financial sense, according to the Child Poverty Action Group, while tax credits could also be improved.

"The Chancellor must use this Pre-Budget Report to show us that he is committed to helping struggling families," John Dickie, the group's acting chief executive has recommended.

Meanwhile, the charity also believes that a higher minimum wage level could prove beneficial to families with low incomes and, as a result, this should additionally be focused on in Alistair Darling's report.

Earlier this week, the Consumer Credit Counselling Service and the Finance and Leasing Association suggested that people looking to get credit to provide their families with Christmas presents this year should shop around for deals.
