Debt 'could pose problems for university leavers'
People from lower income backgrounds may have to face up to large amounts of debt once they graduate from university, an expert has noted.

The Children's Mutual's chief executive David White has highlighted the fact that those who are less well-off cannot gain access to the same "safety net" that some of their wealthier counterparts benefit from.

Discussing the average amount of debt that younger people may need to deal with when they move away from university, Mr White commented: "A debt of £23,500 could prove debilitating for less well-off students."

While some people might look to get credit to deal with their debts, the expert has suggested that parents might be able to financially support their children by thinking ahead and making use of a Child Trust Fund.

Meanwhile, million+ spokesperson Victoria Mills has recently suggested that graduates need to be offered a system of funding which is "more sustainable".
