Lower energy costs 'may result from boiler scrappage scheme'
Consumers worried about the impact that large energy bills are having on their finances could be able to reduce their outgoings with the support of the government's boiler scrappage scheme, it has been suggested.

Energy expert at the switching website uSwitch.com Tom Lyon believes that those participating in the programme could see positive financial results.

He commented: "Inefficient boilers contribute significantly to household carbon emissions.

"In addition, installing a modern energy efficient boiler can save households up to £235 a year on heating bills."

Mr Lyon has also noted that as much as 60 per cent of a property's energy bills may be used to meet the costs of hot water use and heating.

Meanwhile, consumers who are currently having to find ways to get credit to pay for high fuel bills might benefit from advice published by uSwitch.com earlier this month.

The website noted that consumers should consider paying for their energy by direct debit as they may be able to make money savings.
