Credit card users 'now have more fraud protection'
Consumers looking to get credit cards in the near future will be able to receive some degree of fraud protection, it has been noted.

The Payments Council's head of PR Jemma Smith believes that fraudsters will continue to be attracted to cards.

However, she commented: "If you are an innocent victim of fraud you can expect to get your money back, unless you have been negligent."

Meanwhile, Ms Smith added that the Consumer Credit Act also offers support to those making use of credit cards.

The expert went on to say that Chip and PIN technology has played an important role in addressing the problem of card fraud in the last few years.

Ms Smith's organisation this week published the findings of its the Way We Pay 2010 report.

It looked at recent consumer spending trends, highlighting people's use of payment methods such as credit cards and cheques.
