Further govt support pledged to debt advice services
UK consumers struggling financially in the current economic climate may be able to benefit from new funding which has been pledged towards debt advice organisations.

It is hoped that the sum of £4 million, which will be offered to agencies and court desks, will enable people to gain access to free guidance concerning their individual situations.

The government minister for housing John Healey has commented that the funding is designed to reduce instances of repossession.

He said: "More than 330,000 homeowners have benefited from a comprehensive range of government help and support over the past year and repossessions are running at half the rate of the last recession."

Meanwhile, the government's Pre-Budget Report has recently unveiled plans to help people to lower their fuel costs through energy efficient techniques, which may help those in credit card debt who are struggling to pay their gas and electricity bills.
