People 'should be aware of debt warning signs'
People should aim to tackle any credit card debt problems they may have, it has been suggested, rather than putting warning signs out of their mind.

The helpline manager at the Consumer Credit Counselling Service Laura Carver believes that there are a number of things that people should look out for that might suggest they are having difficulties with debt.

She commented: "These signs include only making the minimum payment on your credit cards each month, not knowing the total debt you have ... and using credit to repay debt."

Unbiased.co.uk has this month pointed out the large amount of credit card debt that UK consumers are currently facing, with the amount said to have gone up last year by around £4 billion.

Ms Carver went on to highlight the potential assistance that her organisation's helpline could offer to people who may feel that they have debt problems.
