Brits 'should get heating cover'

Brits should take out heating cover this winter to avoid being left out in the cold, according to advice from energy experts.

Research by uSwitch reveals that the number of people taking out heating cover on their boilers has dropped by 40 per cent in the last year.

Energy experts at uSwitch said that taking out extra heating cover could free-up some much needed cash which could go towards paying off other expenses such as grocery bills or credit card debt.

Will Marples, energy expert at uSwitch.com, says: "Household budgets continue to be stretched, but what seems like an easy saving could cost you dearly in the long term."

According to the Department of Energy & Climate Change the increase in fuel poverty between 2006 and 2007 has been caused by rising fuel prices; but rising incomes and improvements in the energy efficiency of housing continue to help households from falling into fuel poverty and in some cases have removed fuel poor households from fuel poverty.
