When seeking help with their debt problems, consumers based in the UK should be able to gain access to services which are transparent, one expert has suggested, which may interest those who are keen to overcome a
bad credit score.
According to
Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) external affairs director Delroy Corinaldi, stress is one problem that people may have to deal with if debt problems are on the horizon for them.
He stated: "People who find themselves in this situation often stay with the first port in a storm."
"That is why is it so important that those who are struggling with debt are offered services that are clear and transparent and advice that is independent and of the highest standards," Mr Corinaldi added.
The expert went on to highlight the important role which he believes debt charities can play in supporting those who are going through difficult financial times at present.
An independent service is offered to consumers by such organisations, he emphasised, while they are also able to access help for no charge.
He made his remarks in response to a recent review which was conducted by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT), relating to the topic of debt management firms.
The review is linked to the fact that some companies are not complying fully with the debt management guidance which has been produced by the body.
Advertising practices used by debt management firms should not be misleading, the OFT's report suggested.
Towards the start of the month, separate research published by the CCCS highlighted the debt issues that many people on Jobseeker's Allowance are having to address at the present time.
In the opening six months of this year, the benefit was claimed by 14,446 of those who got in touch with it for unsecured debt advice, the organisation revealed.
