Consumers 'should not overspend' during January sales
People should carefully manage their money by avoiding overspending during the January sales, according to one organisation.

PayPal believes that consumers should be careful that they do not strain their finances in the coming days and end up having to pay back debts.

Shoppers may also be able to avoid things like credit card debt by drawing up a financial budget to ensure they do not go overboard, the firm suggests.

PayPal Merchant Services UK's general manager Cameron McLean believes that internet shopping is likely to prove popular among a number of sales shoppers.

He commented: "With hundreds of top retailers starting their online sales early and the temperatures dropping we expect even more shoppers than usual to head online to pick up a sale bargain."

In November PayPal highlighted how important it is for people to stay secure when they opt to do some of their shopping on the web.
