Homeowners warned about water damage costs
Water damage could have serious financial implications for UK householders, new figures suggest.

According to Halifax Home Insurance, problems relating to water leaks and flooding can require large sums of money to put right.

The organisation believes that people should do all they can to protect their homes from such damage, by checking that their pipes are in good working order and seeking effective insurance policies.

Martyn Foulds, the company's Senior Claims Manager, has suggested that the prospect of water damage should not be dismissed by householders.

He said: "An increased number of bathrooms in modern properties means greater scope for water leaks, while trends for wood and laminate flooring makes water damage costly to repair."

Meanwhile, those looking to avoid having to get credit to fix household problems this winter may also be keen to note that AXA has recently pointed out the dangers of bursting pipes.
