Consumers 'need to protect themselves' against online bank fraud
People concerned about the dangers of online banking fraud should ensure they take steps to protect themselves, an expert from Get Safe Online believes.

The organisation's managing director Tony Neate feels that it should not prove overly difficult for consumers to stay safe while making use of the internet.

Along with measures such as anti-virus software, the expert suggests that web users should be wary of putting too much information about themselves on the likes of social networking websites.

He commented: "We are seeing very sophisticated attacks now not on the banks, but on the individuals.

"People have to make sure they are doing everything right when they are online."

While fraudsters may have looked to get credit card details from people in recent times, Mr Neate suggests that chip and PIN has helped to lower card fraud.

Meanwhile, Deloitte also took the time to highlight the threats posed by cyber criminals earlier in the year.
