New financial advice service 'could benefit 1m people'
A new money advice service has been launched in the UK, which might offer support to a million people over the course of the next year.

Expert guidance will be provided to those making use of the Money Made Clear scheme, with financial planning just one area that people may be able to gain information about.

Along with an online presence, the service will also allow consumers to access face-to-face guidance and a helpline.

Alistair Darling, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, suggests that the initiative could provide advice about repayments, which might help those who are struggling with credit card debt.

He added that it can prove useful "whether you are unsure about the small print in a mortgage form [or] want advice about opening a savings account for your children or grand-children".

Meanwhile, Jasmine Birtles, founder of Moneymagpie.com, has recently highlighted the importance of teaching youngsters about a range of financial issues, including budgeting.
