People 'should assess finances' as new tax year approaches
Consumers might find it useful to review their present financial position in the coming weeks, an expert has noted, with the new tax year just around the corner.

NS&I's senior savings spokesman Tim Mack feels that people could look to improve their saving habits as the 2010/11 tax year draws closer.

"With the new financial year approaching, now is a good time for people to take a closer look at their finances and set themselves savings goals for the year ahead," he said.

The expert's comments follow the publication of figures from the NS&I Savings Survey, which suggest that UK consumers are now investing less of their cash each month.

People are now putting around 6.25 per cent of their wages in savings accounts, the survey finds.

Meanwhile, instead of looking to get credit, MP Mark Hoban recently suggested that people should look to save more of their money in future.
